Why Rodents Are a Serious Problem

Rats and mice can cause extensive damage to homes and businesses. They chew through wiring, pipes, and insulation, leading to costly repairs. Rodents are also a major hazard to vehicle engine bays, often damaging electrical wiring and creating unexpected repair bills. More importantly, they pose significant health risks by contaminating food and spreading diseases.

How We Manage Rodent Infestations on Your Property

A Comprehensive Approach to Treating Rodents

Rodent control requires a multi-faceted approach. We don’t just eliminate the current infestation—we work to prevent future problems through targeted solutions, including:

  • Property Inspection – Identifying rodent entry points and signs of infestation.

  • Safe & Effective Baiting & Trapping – Using targeted bait stations and humane traps to eliminate rodents efficiently.

  • Sanitation & Prevention Advice – Advising you about potential sources and nesting areas to deter future infestations.

Our Expert Tips for Long-Term Rodent Control

Rodent infestation and getting rid of these pests is no easy task. Not only are they difficult to track down, but they also reproduce quickly, making it hard to keep population numbers under control. Effective rodent management involves:

  • Using a variety of methods to rodent-proof buildings and eliminate rodent food sources.
  • Sealing up rodent entry points, such as cracks and holes in walls and floors.
  • Removing or rodent-proofing potential food sources, such as garbage location points.
  • Trapping and baiting are effective tools for reducing rodent populations.

Rodent Pest Control FAQs

  • How do I know if I have rats or mice, and does it matter which?

The common signs are the same for both: droppings, gnaw marks, chewed wiring or packaging, scratching in the walls or roof at night, and a musty smell where they are nesting. It does matter which, because rats and mice behave differently, take different baits and squeeze through different gaps, so part of our first visit is working out what you are actually dealing with before we treat for the wrong one.

  • Rodents chewed the wiring in my car. Can you help with that?

Yes, and it is more common than people expect. Rats and mice are drawn to the warmth of an engine bay and will chew through electrical wiring, which leaves you with repair bills that have nothing to do with the car itself. We treat the surrounding area, deal with the nesting and food sources drawing them in, and advise on how to make the space less inviting, whether it is a car, a caravan, a shed or machinery.

  • Are the baits and traps safe around my children and pets?

We place bait in tamper-resistant stations and position everything with your household in mind, in the spots rodents travel and people and pets do not. We will talk through where treatment is going before we start, and if you have young children, pets or livestock, tell us up front so we plan the placement around them. Trapping is also an option where bait is not the right fit for your situation.

  • How do you stop them getting back in?

Treatment is only half the job. The other half is making the property harder to get into and less worth the effort. We identify likely entry points, cracks and holes in walls and floors, gaps around pipes and rooflines, and advise on sealing them, along with the food and rubbish sources worth moving or securing. Rodents only need a small gap and a reason, so we work on removing both.

  • How fast can a rodent problem get out of hand?

Faster than most people think, which is why we treat it as time-sensitive. A pair of mice can turn into a serious infestation in a matter of weeks under the right conditions, and rats are not far behind. Signs like droppings or night-time scratching mean they are already established, not just passing through, so the sooner we inspect the smaller and cheaper the job usually is.
